| Honestly it could be either your RF (the line) or the modem. Since it is so long until the tech comes I would do as much self-troubleshooting as I could. I'm sure you've done this.. but check the power supply, and it's connection to the wall and the modem. Pull the power supply for a good 5-10mins.. then put it back in.
The test light will flash when the modem is synching with the server as is indicated by the knowledgebase article you posted.
IE: if your connection is intermittent, through a problem with your Cable line, then the modem would be acting like this.
I'm am not familiar with your modem, but many modems can be accessed by typing 192.168.100.1 into your web browser and it will show a diagnostics screen. Some show more information than others.
If your modem has this capability, list the Information all of your diagnostic screens display.
This could help identify if it is an RF problem or not.
If replacing the modem clears it up , when your brother changes it, then you'll have your resolution. I would personally then take the modem to a local office and swap it and take the "new" modem back. (Unless your brother is simply bringing his modem over to test) -- Either way you will know to swap it.
Good luck! -- The ability to quote is a serviceable substitute for wit. |
