Lag problems and poor performance

I have been having lag problems and poor performance for about three months. DSLX had the phone company come out. They never did but they did something to the phone line. I know because there was no dial tone for about a hour. It worked for a bit then it went back downhill, The cable length is fine, I have a new modem and I installed a new filter. I am going to install a new splitter tommorow. This is a continuation from my previous post in another topic. I was asked to start a new one which I happily did.

Thanks for starting a new thread. It actually does make it easier to follow with separate threads.

I think installing a splitter is a good avenue for you to try. Hopefully it will correct the issue but it can only help even if it isn't the full resolution to your issue. I would like to take a look at the line after you install the splitter. Can you follow up with me or our support team after you install the splitter?

Thanks

I replaced the splitter, and I am still getting lag especially on city of heroes east coast servers and I can't even stream audio. I was able to do both easily before this problem started happening in late may-early june. Here's the result of my dr-ping test I couldn't get a rating because too much stuff timed out

Sorry, 84 pings gave errors or timeouts. 74 from 103 IPs were reachable. - no record will be made.

Dr. Ping doesn't work right most of the time so I wouldn't wouldn't worry about what it says. That's not to say you aren't having connection problems.

Thanks for that clarification. Are there are any other diagnostic tools out there that perform the same function but work better?

I took a look at your current line readings and they look good. They are below for your reference. I would recommend running a continuous ping to the gateway to see if you see any lag there.

DN STREAM SPEED The line is running at the maximum bit rate of 6016 kbps.
UP STREAM SPEED The line is running at the maximum bit rate of 768 kbps.
DN STREAM S/N The line noise margin is 14.0dB, which is above the target noise margin of 6.0dB.
UP STREAM S/N The line noise margin is 13.0dB, which is above the target noise margin of 6.0dB.
DN STREAM POWER The line power is 19.0dBm, which is below the maximum of 20.0dBm.
UP STREAM POWER The line power is 12.0dBm, which is below the maximum of 13.0dBm.
DN STREAM LINE CAPACITY The line is running at 77.0% of relative capacity on downstream transmission path.
UP STREAM LINE CAPACITY The line is running at 79.0% of relative capacity on upstream transmission path.

How much data should I ping the gateway with to get a proper reading? Thank you again for looking into this. You've been one of the better techs to assist me.

You can run it for about 1,000 times and see if the results stay consistent. You don't have to provide all 1,000 results though.

Upload: 817 (Kbps)
In kilobytes per second: 268 down 99.8 up

Compared to the average of 195 tests from dslextreme.com:
* download is 25% better, upload is 110% better

Thats a speed test I just took. My tier is 3000-6000kbps. Like I said the problem is intermittent. I can reboot my pc and modem and it will come back to normal for a bit, then it will start lagging again. And thanks for the ping info.

I apologize if this has been asked. Have you replaced the modem for this issue?

Good news the connection worked really well on Saturday night and I seem to be doing fine today. I already have gotten a replacement modem. I don't know what you guys did but it seems to be working like it did. If I encounter problems again Ill be sure to let you know.

Thanks!!!
