| Magic Jack and Fax machine works great here.
I have been having issues with my long distance carrier and faxing. Pioneer Telephone, who routes through Quest. Only 10% of my long distance faxes go through. Voice works just fine though. And, I can receive faxes just fine also. I have gone though trouble ticket after ticket. I've been wondering if they were routing me through a compressed line or something. Today I thought, "lets try and fax through the Magicjack." It worked perfect. So I set up a little test fax in the office. I hooked an HP LJ3100 to the Magicjack and faxed over to my POTS line with a Brother 7820N on it. It went through just fine also. And, by the way, I had the HP3100 set to fine. I then faxed something from the POTS line to the LJ3100 and it came through just fine. So, I ordered another MagicJack. I am running ATT DSL Pro. The first Magicjack works so good, I am moving it over to my HTPC and hardwiring it into the home office. |

| reply to ke6vg I don't know what hardware/software HP uses - but I've found the same to be true with HP AIO units - both OfficeJet and Photosmart. Glad it's working out for you - it'll sure save you a ton of money !
Oh - and one other thought - don't get upset if MJ changes the codec they're using and it suddenly STOPS working. Not saying this will happen or is coming - just that it's always a possibility..... |

| reply to ke6vg No special settings. It just worked. I did have it set to fine, which is usually the hardest setting to fax from. I'll enjoy it while I have it. It will pay for itself in a month or two. So, if it lasts that long everyting else is gravy. AT&T did just come by and upgrade our DSL lines for their U-verse service. My ping and such are really pretty good. 6-7ms delay and zero packet loss for VOIP test. |
