Is this real?

I've heard of a new talent in wotlk for rogues that allows them to remove one spell effect and has no cooldown. I believe it has another similar benefit too.

What I was wondering is if this is a replacement for cloak of shadows (if it is real), and how long it would be before blizzard realised this is way overpowered.

Wouldn't this make us almost invulnerable against dots and a whole bunch of CC?

Do we even need it, given the talents and spells we have right now?

What concerns me is this might tip the balance and get us flagged for a nerf, and those are never pretty.

They just want to make sure that warlocks can never kill rogues again. God I hate rogues.

That's exactly why I rolled one. I was sick of having my ass handed to me in arena and pvp by rogues and decided I might as well enjoy being one than getting upset over being smacked about.

I have to wonder sometimes tho, like is Blizzard owned by a pvp-obsessed, clothy-hating rogue?

Mage ice trap thing - answer, shadowstep right to the mage and kill him.

Lock / Priest fear - answer, use our spare trinket, and dispell it. Has a 2 min cooldown, so it might as well be a 2nd trinket.

Hunter slow trap - answer, shadowstep / cloak of shadows, proceed to kill.

Mage blink - answer, shadowstep, vanish, cheap shot, kill.

Druid travel form - shadowstep, sprint, vanish, cheapshot, kill.

Dots - cloak of shadows, vanish, cheapshot, kill.

No sprint, shadowstep or vanish - prep, and proceed as normal.

Only warriors and paladins seem immune, as our hits are mosquito bites, but everyone else not in plate is fair game.

30 energy is a lot , sure it refunds it but it also blows a GCD so no special for 1.5s. It looks like a typical dispell so mechanics like dispell resistance, and Unstable should apply.

Dot classes are getting mighty screwed by this tho.

I've never played a Rogue past lvl 6. But I don't find them to be overpowered in PVP. Maybe it feels that way for some classes, but for others they are pretty easy to controll (at least one on one). My hunter eats rogues for breakfast one on one. My Pally and Druid do ok against them. From what I've seen it also looks like warriors have no problem with rogues. That being said, if two rogues team up and ambush me at the same time, its virtually impossible to do anything before I'm dead.

As a mage this is what I see/hear.

*crunch* 1/3 of my health gone
*snap* 1/3 of my health gone
*ker-snap* 1/8-1/3 of my health gone
*NOMNOMNOM* I'm dead.

But...I really haven't pvp'd on my mage in the last year.

Rogues are like any other class, we are good against some classes/specs, not so good against others. If you want a truly overpowered class IMO resto druids would top my list.

You will also be happy to hear rogue mace stun was removed from the game with WOTLK as well, same for warrior mace stun. Or at least whenever they patch in the new talents prior to WOTLK.

When a friend of mine started playing wow, she rolled priest. Went into BG's for about a week and got destroyed by rogues every time. One day, without saying bye, she signed off and I get a tell from her new toon: a rogue.

I had trouble with rogues on my shaman so I made a hunter. Now I kill the bastards all day long. I don't get why if something kills you, you become it and not what can kill it.

People believe that the class that beat them is OP so they think rolling it will make them OP.

Roll a clothie and you will find out that they really do own in PVP. If one gets up behind me on my shadow priest I am toast.

Sure a rogue will destroy a priest who's wearing little to no res gear, any class for that matter. A rogue has a much harder time with a disc priest with 350+ resilience. A rogues capability is greatly reduced against well geared opponents. I have > 2000atk power in my PvP set and often have trouble with well geared shamans, druids, disc priests and sl/sl locks. Warriors and pallies can be a problem as well on occasion warriors requiring I blow alot of cooldowns to win and pallies getting up to 3 lives :P

I play 3 classes in PvP including rogue, resto druid and disc priest. My priest cant kill much but is able to survive quite well against multiple attackers and keep numerous people alive. My druid can heal and run and get out of almost any situation short of a gang bang.

I don't think rogues are going to be as OP this time around.

When you go deep assassination you are heavily susceptible to cc. The trade off is near immunity to bleeds/magic effects now.

I think there will be plenty of counters to rogues now. Can you imagine being a rogue trying to kill a holy/ret paladin healer? I can't even see it coming close to happening 1v1. Doing well over 100dps a second to yourself...becasue of 120-180 damage ticks of ret aura and 20% of your crit damage reflected.

Rogues are not going to be that OP. Even with warriors at best, still the best at killing locks. Removing a bleed is good, but as any rogue who has fought a geared warrior knows...global cooldowns are vital.

I'm a very deep frost Mage and while I have some trouble with Shadowstep rogues, I can still handle most rogues fairly well. With near 400 resil that takes a bite out of any crits they can get off and gives me time to use my full arsenal of slowing/freezing/elemental attacks.

Did I mention this talent is mute for rogues against PvP warlocks?

Notice how soul link was moved to tier 3, 11 points into Demonology?

All PvP locks will have unstable affliction, yes rogue, dispell yourself and take a 5k nuke :P

I was mostly just messing around, but as long as I can reach my target stealthed, and they aren't plate wearers, disc priests or resto druids, then I usually have the advantage.

Remember that I'm talking about your average BG player here, not experienced PVP'rs. Once I move from BG to Arena the story is very different.
