basic line monitor

I have a basic line monitor for being in a monitoring group. I've signed up over 2 weeks ago and it still shows nothing. I know I HAVE put my correct IP in there and I am pingable, what gives.

I got an e-mail stating that it hasn't received ip updates yet. Do I have to use comcast's DNS servers? I'm using Open DNS's I chose dynamic when I set it up is that right, I don't think I have a static ip.

Questions:

Router involved?
What Brand?
Are you pingable?

Have you tried not only checking the dynamic box, but also entering your current IP in the static box?
Try doing both.

Click save or update monitor afterwards.

WRT54G, I believe I am pingable because I have all the firewall settings off. Also, I am pingable with the tweak test if that matters.

Will it work with both the Dynamic and Static, or just one or the other?

I have the same set-up minus the Open DNS

I just set the router this way:
Disable "Block Anonymous Internet Requests" in the Security section, and leave all else checked.

And, though unsure of Open DNS..you can try it this way (do both) - see if that starts it graphing

I've asked the calvary to show up here to help with that Open DNS part..

quote:
A very important factor is the way you setup the account. Even if you have a static IP, you must create the account as a dynamic IP. For security and privacy, BBR uses a cookie feature so that if you are logged in, only you can see your static IP graph. You have to check the dynamic box and enter your static IP. But for those that are not logged in, the graph is not visible, it will appear broken. So setting the graph to a dynamic IP will allow everyone to see the graph while the IP will remain hidden. If you have a static IP you do not need to run a DDNS client. Just set the monitor for "dynamic" and then type in your IP address in the "monitor this static address" box.

How are you set up? I'm guessing you have a dynamic IP address and that IP is the WAN IP of your Linksys, correct?

You can do it manually by updating the IP address on your page at »/monitored/mine and clicking the edit button. Does it show an IP address there?

You can update it through a program running on your computer such as DeeEnEss which you can read a bit about at »Line Monitoring FAQ »How do I configure DeeEnEss?

You would only have either static or dynamic so you'd use one.

I don't wish to set it up that way
