| [Troubles] 1 year later, STILL having issues!
Can someone PLEASE point me to a tech who can fix this problem?
I first posted about my issue around a year ago. Every time it rains, the connection dies.
Every time it's not raining, and the temperature gets above 75, the connection dies.
Techs have come to my house repeatedly! My end is fine.
The problem (according to the techs) is the DSLAM we connect to. Also according to the techs, it's been replaced. So WHY am I still having this problem?
Called WS tech support tonight, explained the issue AGAIN, and was told "There's nothing we can do for you, have a nice day." >click!
If Windstream wasn't the ONLY provider in my area, I swear I'd drop them in a heartbeat.
I'm about to start calling the Attorney General on Monday if something isn't done soon! |

You may be on the DSLAM to the West and the other working fine DSL that is 1,000 FT away, may be on another DSLAM to the East. Or you may be on the same DSLAM and the other DSL is at the limit for stable DSL and that would put you 1,000 FT over the maximum limit for stable DSL being farther away.
There are way too many variables to use any statements about how a DSL works 1000 FT away at a different location as it has no bearing on the problem location. I've see a single house with two lines from the same CO and one line travelled a different path ending up being a couple thousand feet longer than the other and not being able to support DSL while the first line does. -- Whats the point of owning a supercar if you cant scare yourself stupid from time to time? |

The COs are climate controlled, so heat is not an issue. Rain would explain the WHEN it is raining thing.... |

Funny thing is, when mine goes out, -everyone- on my road has the exact same problem!
It's raining today, about 20 miles north of us, so the connection is acting like a yo-yo. |

| reply to cuddles71 Get your problem escalated to level 2. If they can't do anything, demand a supervisor/manager. If you KEEP calling, they will eventually fix the problem. Sadly, I had to do this in order to fix my SLOW download problem. -- Do or do not, there is no try! - Yoda |

| Done that, several times. Even tried calling the executive "action" line, who quickly proved to be misnamed.
So today, after going in circles with yet another Indian tech who wanted me to "please be rebooting your computer until the connection returns", I got the bright idea to do a bit of Googling.
Found the number for Joe Marano, the SVP of Customer Service. Just now got off the phone with him, and he's biting nails mad. He personally pulled up my case history, and said it -will- be fixed in 24 hours.
So now I wait.
BTW: Public Service Commission said "We can't help unless it's water or electric, sorry" when I called them. |

| reply to cuddles71 I still have the same problem. After three service visits in which they replaced everything on my end, the problem continues. They figured out the problem was in the wire or at their CO and were supposed to fix it by August 22. I arrived here today and found a note on my door that the problem must be inside and to check my filter. Of course it hasn't rained in over a week so when it rains and disconnects I will be on a rampage. The India people have been fine, the local techs seem to find any excuse to avoid doing anything. The third tech that was out said that my first tech was lazy and useless. I figure he is the one who returned the fourth time and didn't do anything. Sorry for the rant it's been five months of misery here. |

| reply to cuddles71 After six techs it still disconnects when it rains. The last tech figures there is a problem in the line somewhere on the street because she has had other people on the street with the same problem. She also told me that this property is closer to the CO than my other property where my DSL works all the time. She told me to call when it rains again so when I get back out there tomorrow it won't be working and I will call. Rain=progress because they will be able to track down the fault. By the time a tech usually arrives it's dry and working again. |
