| reply to Moss Re: Mediacom MAX 20/2 to 98% of footprint by 6/30!
said by Moss :I'm just listening to Mediacom's 1Q results from 9:30am EST, May 7 conference call. Chairman Rocco Commisso announced the 20Mb down/2Mb package will be in place to 98% of subscribers by 6/30! I guess the rumors were right! I was wondering when someone was going to notice that. The rumors were NOT right though. We had no plans last December when this thread started. Most of those plans were developed relatively recently. For most MAX customers the change will happen a lot sooner than 6/30 as well. And because I know somebody will ask, no we are not planning to change the price (I guess that is either good or bad news depending on how you look at it.) |

I will post more details as they become solid. |

| ok, i am not one to jump the gun, but unless this is going to be implemented soon I am dropping Mediacom as I can save quite a bit of cash by going to qwest so unless i know this is coming soon mediacom is going goodbye and i will be accepting qwest and directv into my household so give me something that will allow me to say I have to stay with mc |

| well they are talking that it should be before 6/30 so that is about 5 weeks away. I sure hope your qwest works better than my sisters. She changed and can hardly wait for their year to be up so they can change back. She has had nothing but trouble since she changed. Speeds are real slow and definitely not at the level she is paying for. If Mediacom is running about a week ahead in getting it deployed then in about 4 weeks the new speeds should be in place. As for me, I do not have much to decide on. The local phone company's dsl speeds are definitely not highspeed. If I take there tv along with the dsl I will get a download of about 1000 and upload of 256 and the cost with tv would run right at $200. Shoot Mediacom has them blown out of the water on speeds alone. That is for me, your mileage may differ. |

Be aware if you have an eMTA, you will need to use the reset button or remove the battery (and pull the plug) to successfully reset the modem. |

V, I'm not sure why you are claiming that testmy.net can't do more then 11mbit [ever].
Every time I test there I get 13.5-14mbit. Thats completely consistent with DSLR's results as well as other speed tests. Now, it's true that it could be a routing issue to their server(s) with you and I being in different parts of the US, but it's not fair to say they can't support X amount of speed.

| testmy.net is a poor test site always has been guy, i dont mean to burst anyones bubble but it is. i have seen countless people report their speeds are poor when using that site but go to another site and they have great speeds.
those are just my experiences.
last night i proved that by doing over 5 tests there and never once getting over 11mb but at the same time i could switch to speedtest.net and get 19mb.
the good thing about speedtest is they show a map of many locations thruought the usa to test from the downside is that they do not show what the speed limit is of each particular site.
chicago and the twin cities do not have any issues cranking up and beyond 20mb.
its unfortunate that many sites do not have the speed tests set to test with larger files for faster connections. -- System Specs Intel Conroe Q6600 Quad Core @3.6ghz Water Cooled Asus P5N-E SLI - 2gb Gslill 6400 HZ -Modded Audigy2 ZS w/ 3 AD8620 OPAMPS chips 8800 GTX 768meg Logitech Z5300 THX 5.1 spk Dell 2407 LCD and Dell 2007 LCD |

| reply to v_lestat I have found that this ftp site is usually a pretty good speed test. It is not as user friendly as the point and click speed test because it is best used with an ftp client.
