Well, I am now part of the ranks of ex-SpeakEasy customers. I had originally gotten my "SysAdmin" package so that I could host my own servers out of my house. SpeakEasy used to be a great service and the price difference for what was offered and what I needed was worth it. Unfortunately, my needs changed, it seemed their level of interest changed and the market changed. So, now, it's just become more time and cost effective for me to pursue other solutions. However, they didn't burn me, so, if the combination of circumstances change back in their favor, I would consider going back in their direction (if they're still around). -- The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt. -- Bertrand Russell |

| reply to nixen Ditto. I've been with speakeasy for 8 years and one move with 5 of the last years on IDSL. ATT finally figured out a way to provide high speed DSL and not have to share copper with Covad. So, do I stay with 144kbps for $100/mo or 2.5Mbps for $35/mo? When I canceled, even the speakeasy rep said "I don't blame you."
I was pretty happy with the Speakeasy service and options but running my own server over a cup and string connection just isn't worth the extra $65/mo.

| reply to nixen It is quite a shame that SE has no other options but to offer services over covad dsl.. If SE was able to supplant my FIOS connection as my provider, I would be a much happier person.
The lack of static ip and the TOS to run my own servers still disappoints me about Fios. |

| reply to nixen I am now also a member of the club. I was a satisfied customer for over 8 years. The price was to high the last few years but I was to lazy to switch to Verizon DSL to save a few $. Now that Verizon has dropped FIOS in my house and the cost for FIOS and Phone is cheaper than Speakeasy was charging me for DSL I had no choice but to go with Verizon. -- David Draper, CISSP Draper Consulting Services |
