| reply to Recluse420 Wow. I am disappointed. That is really expensive. Not competitive at all. With Fios business at $99 for 15/2 w/static ip, how can Speakeasy justify this pricing. I really like Speakeasy but the pricing really is becoming an issue. This is also $50/$60/$70 higher than other ADSL2 services out there. I hate to say it but I think my run with SE may be coming to an end. We'll see when an official pricing is released but this does not look good. |

| reply to Recluse420 Its the unlimited bandwidth and open server policy you are paying for. Try downloading 1 terabyte on the verizon service. At a minimum you will get a warning. If you are unlucky they will terminate your service. Also with verizon you get a dynamic IP address.
Speakeasy typically caters to the business end of the market. But don't worry they are investigating all their options
That said....I just took a look at speakeasy's pricing. They revamped the pricing for residential. I'm hoping it's a typo because the 1.5/384 is now 1.5/256 and it has gone up in price. I sure hope they get creative soon otherewise they are going to continue to lose the remaining residental customers that they have. |

| reply to djpiazza Speakeasy has never been cheap but then again they are not trying to get the same customers that AT&T or Verizon are after. Speakeasy wants the power users, home office users, and small businesses where there is some margin. Offering DSL for $14.95 a month has zero or most likely negative margin. The only way you can survive doing that is if you are overcharging for pots service! -- SunRocket - You get what you pay for! |

| reply to scooby Scooby & mackintire, Re-read my post.
I am talking about Business use. I am comparing SE new ADSL2 to the Business Fios plan. Unlimited & open server policy. I have set up several FIOS business accounts for small biz clients and all currently run servers(mostly SBS). Yes, SE has never been cheap, and I don't expect them to be for the quality service they offer, but i do wish there pricing would be inline with the current business offerings from others. Verizon Business Fios is $99.00 for 15/2 with Static IP (1 or 5). That's almost 1/2 Speakeasy's price for their 15/1 service. I know LBDSL offers ADSL2 business plans now at the same tiers as SE for $50.00-$70.00 less, although I've never tried them. That is my complaint. I have been a very loyal SE customer for many years now and have signed up dozens of clients with their service. I have been hanging on, but they just don't seem to be on the same page as other business offerings. I am waiting for the "official" announcement, but it doesn't look good. |

| I agree not everyone has access to FIOS, but ADSL2 will be limited to certain markets as well and most likely the same areas were Fios is or will be. I may be wrong, but I would bet that most places that never get FIOS will never have ASDSL2. ADSL2 is a direct competitor to the FIOS market but with it's distance limitations it will probably have a smaller footprint than FIOS. |

| reply to Recluse420 I see what you are saying. I do not believe that speakeasy needs to match Verizon's price point but being 50% more expensive kind of hurts thier chances unless they believe that they have additional value added services that make up for the difference.
SO I do agree with what you are saying...to a point. |

| reply to djpiazza unless Verizon buys Qwest, Seattle will never see FIOS. But since Speakeasy is Seattle based we'll be lucky enough to get ADSL2+ (and Qwest will never provide it). The only other choice is Comcast, and that really isn't much of a choice is it? -- When you are leaving.. heaven is a distance not a place. --Carissas Weird |

| reply to mackintire If it was 50% more that wouldn't be bad for additional value added services, but it's closer to 100% more. The bigger issue isn't so much the down speed but the upload. Big difference between 15/1 & 15/2. That is what the Business\Power user really wants. Plus I'm guessing SE's price will top $200.00 with all the "taxes" added on as well. Come on Speakeasy, lets offer a competitive 15/2 plan at $129-149.00. That's still 25-50% more than Fios(before taxes). I'll bet people would jump all over that. |

| reply to Recluse420 Boy, that sounds good to me except for the price. I pay almost that amount for the Legacy Plan, the original ADSL, which ended up being about 768 up and down minus over head. That's about 1/2 T1 which was fine by me. I still have it and am happy with it most of the time, but it would sure be nice to get a bit more speed. Being that I am less speedy in my old age, I will just stick to what I have, I guess, but the ADSL2 does sound nice. -- JKK
Age is a very high price to pay for my maturity. If I can't stay young, I can at least stay immature!
