This review is for Sprint Mobile Broadband as part of a $99 Simply Everything phone plan. As such, this review may not be appropriate for those considering a data-only plan.
Here are the pros and cons:
Pros: - Amazing plan includes unlimited everything for $100. I previously paid that for T-Mobile phone-only services. - I *love* the Sprint Navigation feature! A Garmin in a phone! Very nice! - Full Blackberry features included for the price I previously paid for phone-only service.
Cons: - The phone does not work as well as my old GSM phone worked with T-Mobile. - I need to travel internationally with this phone. Since Sprint uses CDMA, I was limited to choosing from only TWO phones that also include a GSM capability. - The Blackberry 8830 phone that I chose is the most power hungry phone I have ever seen. Good luck getting through a day without charging it! I've had it die *while charging* when using navigation. - The web browser on this phone is practically unusable. They really need to work on making a usable phone browser. - I'm not supposed to use this phone as a modem for a computer under this plan. Since I have Millenicom for internet, I'm not overly concerned, but it would be nice to have that option, particularly since the phone's browser is so bad. - Phone only supports EVDO Rev 0. Not a big limitation since the browser is so bad. - Phone does not support Sprint TV or Sprint Radio, which sound like nice features of the plan. - I miss having a sim card so that I can move my plan from phone to phone without involving Sprint. - I hate having a 2-year commitment. But the plan made me do it!
UPDATE:
I have cancelled this service since the cell phone did not work in my home. Here are the details of how bad it was to deal with Sprint:
