I have had what is now called Hughesnet satellite internet for almost 6 years now, and iit has degraded quite a bit for me. A WISP has been talking about servicing my area "in a few months" for about the last 2 or 3 of those years. But with Christmas coming and having a new baby in the house; a reliable and quick internet connection would make things a lot more simple.
For me, it was Millenicom to the rescue. With Millenicom.com you are on the Sprint Mobile Broadband network, but you don't have to deal with Sprint service. What's more, there is no contract lock in (though you do have to send back the USB Franklin modem they send)
I have only had the service for two weeks now, but it has worked every time. It isn't blazing fast, but it is consistent and reliable and I can even do wild and crazy things like pay bills and shop online - 2 things that were previously at best a chore with Hughesnet.
So all in all, I am quite very happy. Once I buy a router for this Franklin modem, I will be even happier.
