Ordering was easy, I ordered 3 meg DSL and phone service. After a few days the tracking number they gave me was still not in the system. When I called they said someone forgot to ship the modem. Once I finally received the 4200 modem the internet worked well unless it rained. Over the winter the connection got worse and by spring it was down more than up. The first tech that came out knocked on the door and said he fixed the problem. A half hour later it was down again. The next tech terminated the line at the street and it worked for about two hours. The third tech replaced everything inside and said if the problem persists a splicer will have to come out because the problem is at the street somewhere. A half hour later I had no connection. I called India again and they determined my SNR was to low so the problem was at the central office or on the street somewhere and they gave me a window of two weeks for it to be repaired. They stated I would not have to be there for this tech visit. After two weeks I found a note on my door (no rain for the previous week) that the problem was inside and to check my filter. I've given up on Windstream ever getting my DSL working right. Some of their local tech people are very lazy and find any excuse to not do anything (third tech told me this). I hope another option becomes available.

    Hey

Have you tried a whole house filter? It could be that inside wiring is interfering with the DSL signal.

    Yep!

Had WS for 5-6 years same stuff. Alltel at least answered the phone and tried to help.Once they actually fixed my problem. Nothing like coming home from work and setting on the phone for about an hour with someone who has no clue about anything remotely networking.Still no fix for mine 3k down 300up? I haven't seen 3/4 of that in a long time.D-SLAM getting overloaded????hmmm?

    Need more options

I have had problems with windstream since the intall. I don't know how many times I have called the 'support' in India and got nowhere, but a tech called me when he was outside my place and he forgot to block his cell# now I call that as well. Hopefully he will gettired of me calling and get the problems fixed, I'm doubtfull, but at least he will be as frustrated as I am.

I only have 1 phone jack directly from their box outside, no phones or sat boxes hooked to phone line. I changed the filter three tech visits ago. They said everything is good inside when they checked it and replaced the DSL modem.

Ironically I didn't even know my review was up, because when I hit the post button my DSL disconnected.

I am still having the same issues. I decided to plug a phone in to see if the static that has always been present is still there. There was no dial tone, I plugged in a different phone and still had no dial tone. Maybe this will finally get my problem addressed. I will call them about it Friday, because I won't be around till then.

    Re: Need more options

My eighth tech arrived and discovered the cable on the street in front of my property is split open and the inside wires are exposed. He fixed my dsl (FINALLY)and said the wire was in bad shape at the split cable. He said a truck would be out to fix the cable on the street, but a month later it is still not repaired. I will have to call them and get the cable repaired to save my neighbors from the problems I had.
