I've had Comcast Broadband Internet service for about 5 years now. I'm on the 8.8Mbps/768kbps service. Service has been very reliable for the most part. I use VoIP on my service and was having some packet loss that effected my VoIP about 4 years ago. It took about 3 months to figure out that there was a bad cable from my house to the neighborhood cable box. Otherwise I have had very little downtime.
Speed has been good too. Most of the time I get advertised speeds.
I am using a Motorola 5120 cable modem.
DSL in my area is only about 5-7Mbps.
About the only bad things I can say about Comcast are the customer service people are very hard to work with. They work from a script and don't help a lot when things are outside of their script. Also, when they send a field tech to your house, it can take 2-3 tries to get someone who really knows how to help.
Also, I don't like the powerboost they are using now. It would be better if they just kept the speeds at advertised rates, or offered an additional tier of higher constant speed.
Rates are also a little pricey, but I don't have many options in my area.
