Switched from Verizon (768/384) after 2.5 years because of a poor connection (could not hold sync, low speed (53K for instance) and Verizon's inability to fix the problem. Chose DSLExtreme based on reviews here and price. They qualified me from their web site for 3000/768 for $24.95 / month. I chose the to ISP switch over (to cancel my Verizon service) and heard via email six days later that I already had DSL on my line. I called back as instructed in the email and authorized the switch. I received another email a week later indicating that my service would be activated on 8/6. I followed the instructions that came with the modem to no avail. Called tech support on 8/8 and they were able to get me up after clarifying the username format. A return call on 8/10 to see if the problem had been fixed was appreciated and I asked the tech if my circuit was provisioned for 3000 as I was only seeing download speeds of about 1200. He said it was not and reset the speed to 3000. I was down within 3 minutes of that and have not had service since. I have called TS multiple times and now just go straight to tier 2. They scheduled a Verizon tech to come out and check the line. He said the line looked good but I was on the edge of the range for 3000 and that of sync was a problem (it sporadically has been) that 1500 should not be a problem. Called DSLExtreme tech support later that day a was old that I wold have to talk to the billing department t get my account switched over to the lower speed. Called the next day (the 22nd) and the agent told me that yes TS had recommended a downgrade to 1500 and that they would waive the downgrade fee of $50 but the switch to 1500 would be $29.95 / month. I was stunned! The agent then talked to their supervisor and they approved a rate of $24.95 / month. I was amenable to that and agreed. Well here it is the 25th and still no service. 15 days and I get the same message as before (unknown or ad username/password and can not connect to remote computer).
What should I do from here?
